I noticed since the fast growth of mobile game market, traditional RPGs got hard times trying to transitfrom console and PCs to mobile platforms. The inappropriate interface layout and high entry-barrier seems to be two of the important obstacles that making the mobile RPG experience not as satisfactory. With the goal of optimizing usability and beginner-friendly guidance, I started this project.
Motive
We always need to answer the question "Why bother?"
Overview
Neon Dome is a mobile action RPG game set in a cyberpunk futuristic technological world. Players are able to collect agents with various abilities to complete missions. Players can also experience the characters' own story and upgrade their ability skills to build a stronger team. While developing deeper relationships with the agents, players will eventually discover the secret in this city.
Visual System
I defined three visual keywords that match the game settings and applied them to the UI style. Players can be more immersed in the world by experiencing the interface.

During the project, I analyzed many successful mobile action-RPG games such as Genshin Impact and their player habit. I found that the layouts are always optimized to fit the horizontal mobile screen. The business model of mobile games also encourages players to collect different kinds of items, enemies or characters, which means more information need to be present in a limited space.
The experience I acquired from this project helped me understand information architecture when designing information-heavy dashboards. I believe this can guide me to an intuitive and efficient design when dealing with other information hub projects.
Reflection and Future.
