I noticed since the fastgrowth of mobile game market, traditional RPGs got hard times trying to transitfrom console and PCs to mobile platforms. The inappropriate interface layoutand high entry-barrier seems to be two of the important obstacles that makingthe mobile RPG experience not as satisfactory. With the goal of optimizingusability and beginner-friendly guidance, I started this project.

During the project, I analyzedmany successful mobile action-RPG games such as Genshin Impact and theirplayer habit. I found that the layouts are always optimized to fit thehorizontal mobile screen. Since mobile gamers often play in fragment time,information link guidance of material obtaining is designed to be clear andeasy to access. The business model of mobile games also encourages players tocollect different kinds of items, enemies or characters. The Lo-fi prototype archivesystem my attempt to design a rookie-friendly interface for mobile RPGs. Theexperience I acquired from this project will help me design future games withclassic genres to be more accessible on mobile platforms without losing theircharacteristics or hard to get hands on for casual gamers.
